Tricicle : http://www.tricicle.com (translated version : of the performers website)

Tricicle is a spanish group of gestual theatre from Catalonia in Spain. It consists of three members (the founders): Carles Sans, Paco Mir and Joan Gràcia. Founded in 1979, has 32 years offering his particular humor in theaters worldwide. His universal sense of humor, and no spoken text in his works are easy to export their works to all types of countries, where they enjoy considerable recognition. It is currently considered by critics one of the best companies in the world of mime comedy.

Tricicle was born the 1 of November 1979, in Barcelona, the birthplace of its three members. Carles Sans, Paco Mir and Joan Gràcia were three students of the “Institut del Teatre de Barcelona” coming together to begin to represent small sketches, using only mime on the streets of Barcelona. Soon they have the opportunity to perform in various alternative venues in the old city, where for three years began to be known for their particular proposal stage.

In 1982 the first professional proposal: premiere at the Barcelona Teatre “Villarroel” of their first production: Manicomic, a collection of the best gags created over three years. The show becomes a great revelation in Barcelona, reaping a great reception from audiences and critics. That same year received the first professional recognition of his career: a prize at the International Theatre Festival of Sitges.

Antoni Gaudí : Modernist

By at May 13, 2012 | 10:04 am | 0 Comment

Was a Spanish Catalan architect and figurehead of Catalan Modernism.

(Antoni Gaudí i Cornet  25 June 1852–10 June 1926)

Gaudí’s works reflect his highly individual and distinctive style and are largely concentrated in the Catalan capital of Barcelona, notably his magnum opus, the Sagrada Família.

Much of Gaudí’s work was marked by his four life passions: architecture, nature, religion and love for Catalonia. Gaudí studied every detail of his creations, integrating into his architecture a series of crafts in which he was skilled: ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry.

He introduced new techniques in the treatment of materials, such as trencadís, made of waste ceramic pieces.

After a few years under the influence of neo-Gothic art and Oriental techniques, Gaudí became part of the Catalan Modernista movement which was reaching its peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

His work transcended mainstream Modernisme, culminating in an organic style inspired by nature. Gaudí rarely drew detailed plans of his works, instead preferring to create them as three-dimensional scale models and molding the details as he was conceiving them.

Gaudí’s work enjoys widespread international appeal and many studies are devoted to understanding his architecture. Today, his work finds admirers among architects and the general public alike. His masterpiece, the still-uncompleted Sagrada Família, is one of the most visited monuments in Spain.

Between 1984 and 2005, seven of his works were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Gaudí’s Roman Catholic faith intensified during his life and religious images permeate his work. This earned him the nickname “God’s Architect” and led to calls for his beatification.
